Those who prefer rural regions, with many fields, meadows and less high mountains, should consider the region Lower Bavaria (Niederbayern). This is the area where meanwhile the biggest golf and wellness Resort originated, close to Passau. It attracts yearly thousands of golf vacationers with its more than 10 golf courses. Meanwhile the administrative district of Passau belongs to the region with the highest golf course density in Germany.

To the north of Lower Bavaria the region Upper Palatinate is to be found. Between Regensburg and Neumarkt one finds a scenery with many hills and woodlands which also offers some "titbits" for golfer. There is for example the Jura Golf Club Hilzhofen with its by Graham Marsh designed "Golfclub Am Habsberg": a course which is awarded for since many years as one of the best golf course in Germany by the readers of the "Golf Magazin".

Less than one-hour journey of Regensburg begins remotely the region Franconia. Known by his wines in the famous "Bocksbeutel" bottle and the gingerbread town of Nuremberg.
